Founded in July 2023, Girls Gone Sober began as a digital platform on Instagram, providing a safe space for individuals to connect, share experiences, and build connections and friendships with others.Â

Our journey took a step forward in October 2023 when we hosted our first small event in Nottingham. This marked the beginning of our expansion beyond the digital realm, bringing our community together in real life for meaningful connections and shared experiences.

Since then, Girls Gone Sober has continued to evolve and grow. We've hosted more events ranging from pottery painting to hosting our international women's day event and supporting local businesses. Additionally, we've actively engaged in fundraising initiatives, supporting causes that resonate with our values and beliefs.
Our Story
Meet The Founder
Girls Gone Sober (GGS) was founded by Kinga, who began her sobriety journey during her final year studying Criminology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Through her own experience, Kinga recognised a lack of inclusive, alcohol-free social spaces in Nottingham, particularly for women and LGBTQ+ people looking to socialise, build friendships and enjoy new experiences without alcohol being at the centre.
With a passion for bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging, Kinga set out to change this. Girls Gone Sober was born from the belief that sobriety doesn't mean missing out, and that everyone deserves a safe, welcoming and judgement-free space where they can connect, have fun and feel part of a community.
Alongside working full-time as a support worker, Kinga has dedicated countless hours to developing, organising and growing GGS, turning an idea into a supportive and ever-growing community. Her vision has always been to challenge the stigma surrounding sobriety and show that an alcohol-free lifestyle can be full of connection, confidence and memorable experiences.
What's next for GGS?
This is only the beginning. Kinga's next ambition is to establish Girls Gone Sober as a Community Interest Company (CIC), allowing the organisation to strengthen its community impact and create more opportunities for growth. With plans to expand its programme of alcohol-free events, collaborations and social activities, GGS aims to reach even more women and LGBTQ+ people across Nottingham and beyond.
At its heart, Girls Gone Sober is about more than sobriety. It's about friendship, inclusivity, empowerment and creating spaces where everyone feels they belong.
